MOR ELIAN, TROUBLED YOUTH, VERA RUBIN / 12 16 2018

The term globetrotting DJ gets thrown around a lot, but few artists put in the work to make a name for themselves worldwide like Mor Elian. After releasing on the Ninja Tune imprint Technicolor, the Berlin based producer, promoter and DJ is retrofitting the sound of techno with electro influences via her Fever AM label— fitting a refined yet boundless sonic palate, where 4/4 patterns ride alongside off kilter kicks and acid baselines.

As a scene motivator within Berlin and beyond, Mor continues to influence with her selection. A headlining set at Red Bull Music Festival Berlin last month, curated by members of Underground Resistance, made an indelible mark on the bunker filled crowd, her set balancing heavy techno with more than a splash of colorful electro. A recent Rinse.fm mix alongside Ben UFO demonstrates her deft touch navigating the best of both genres.

As co founder behind LA’s Into the Woods, Mor has been instrumental in creating crucial after hours parties with a focus on highlighting stateside stars like Moodymann & Theo Parish along side European upstarts like Hodge and DJ Seinfeld — who featured Elian’s music prominently in their DJ Kicks mix released this Fall. White Owl is proud to host Mor for this all-female fronted Sunday showcase.

NA with Casual Aztec + Dave Quam / 11 23 2018

Very excited to bring NA back to PDX for another great set of eccentric electronics and Caribbean club music! Touring the globe as both a solo artist and in collaboration with Asmara as NGUZUNGUZU, he's released several EPs on labels such as Warp, Hippos in Tanks and Fade to Mind. NA fuses his fascinations with the grimy sounds of ghetto house, baltimore club, and kuduro, with various styles of reggaeton and other caribbean music to create a very unique manifestation of club music that crowds all over the globe have been moving to for over a decade. In addition we have Casual Aztec from Portland's all women/non-binary DJ crew No Control and Dave Quam aka Massacooramaan on support duty. See you there!
